PUNE: General (retd) Manoj Naravane, former Army Chief of India, has struck out against ceasefire critics, especially on the India-Pakistan ceasefire stating that war is neither romantic nor does it make good Bollywood cinema.
According to the Press Trust of India, while addressing an event in Pune, India, on Sunday. He stated that "This is not your Bollywood movie, this is a very serious matter. War or violence should be the last thing we should resort to, that is why our Prime Minister said that this is not the time for war. Even though ignorant people will force us to war, we should not rejoice in it."
The former Indian Army Chief said, "People ask why we didn't really go for war though: as a soldier, for an order, I would fight but it wouldn't be my first choice."
General Naravane said that his first priority would be diplomacy and that differences could be resolved only through bilateral dialogue such that it does not escalate to armed conflict.
